I'm thinking that the NM file is part of Nero and specifically with the Nero Scout that it installs as yet another variation of a desktop search tool (Nero Scout, Windows Desktop [Search], Google Desktop, Copernic Desktop, and there's probably more of these). I don't have a need for this file indexing crap and did not appreciate the Nero install shoving a toolbar in my Windows taskbar, so Nero Scout got axed right after finding out about it. More fluff crap in Nero's install to bloat their package to pretend it has more functionality. I did a Google search on the filename (no extension) and, yep, it's the Nero Scout crap.
